Welcome to Overture, a dazzling immersive spectacle from House of Burlesque inspired by the extraordinary hidden history of 66 Great Queen Street. Behind one discreet London address lies over a century of music, glamour, rebellion and spectacle, waiting to be brought back to life.
Picture this: lost tube stations, wartime romances, rhinestone market-traders and fan-dancing divas. The echoes of Pavarotti and world-famous orchestras drift through the air alongside midnight mischief, showgirls, dreamers and rebels. This is a place that welcomed royalty, sheltered Londoners during the Blitz, heard Charles de Gaulle rally resistance, hosted suffragette voices demanding change, and became one of the most celebrated recording halls in the world.
Now House of Burlesque breathes new life into these stories with an immersive cabaret spectacular with a sprinkle of that oh-so-British naughtiness.
Upon arrival, each guest will receive a unique catalogue number from the Kingsway Archive. Throughout the evening, selected numbers will be drawn at random, unlocking forgotten recordings, hidden characters and extraordinary moments inspired by the rich history of the venue. If your number is called, you won't simply witness the story unfold - you'll become part of the beat.
