The Perfect Act…?
As I’m sure all great burlesque artists will agree, creating a great burlesque routine feels like a never ending task. From choosing the right inspiration to trying to get the perfect balance of music, character, costuming, choreography and flow there are so many little things to think of and to get right. I bet you any money that every artist will also know the feeling of putting together what seems to be the perfect combination over weeks in the studio only to get it in front of an audience and find you are right back where you started! Perfect decisions now seem clunky, fabric may not move the way the are meant to and all the hard work some times feels like it has gone out of the window! Because burlesque is a living art-form and as such must be built on the energy, attention and response of a live audience - the catch is that until you put it in front of real people you cannot really tell if the recipe you have created works. Any good performer knows that the second phase of perfecting a routine does not begin until you start performing it and with the best acts this process is never ending with the act growing and evolving every time it is performed.
Here for your pleasure is my new Revue en Rose act - I hope you like it, it has been tweaked, chopped and tinkered with and now is starting to blossom and hopefully will continue to do so until the day I retire it….. enjoy!
